Please join us on July 27, 2016 from Noon – 1:00 Central for our 3rd Annual Taxpayer Advocate Town Hall Meeting

Iowa’s Taxpayer Advocate, Justin Axelrod will be joining us to listen to your concerns and suggestions concerning the current IRS.  It is your time to express your concerns, assist in identifying issues where the Advocate can assist and just a general discussion on what the Advocate’s office does as well as some insight into the Annual Report to Congress.  This is where your voice is important, if you are having issues and raise your voice you are just one of many who is probably facing the same situation. This year the session will be held via webinar and all who wish to participate regardless of location can attend. Please take a moment to consider attending this free webinar.

One Voice Can Make a Difference, but I hope many will take time out of their day to attend this important session.  Regardless of the state you are located in the Iowa Taxpayer Advocate needs to hear your voice.

Agenda:
  • Highlights of the FY 2017 Objectives Report to Congress
  • The IRS Proposed Future State – some issues you may want to discuss with the Advocate

Some Questions to Think About and Provide Feedback to Iowa’s Taxpayer Advocate, Justin Axelrod
  1. What services do you think the IRS needs to provide to the taxpayers today and in the future so they can comply with the tax laws?
    • Of the taxpayers you represent, is any particular service more important than others that these taxpayers must have in order to comply with the tax laws?
    • How would your clients want to use/receive this service (e.g., by phone, online)?
  2. What are your thoughts regarding whether online services should supplement or actually replace telephone and face-to-face services?  Are all services and transactions equally suited to online delivery?
    • In which circumstances do you think online services will be most useful?
    • In which circumstances do you think online services will be least useful?
  3. The Taxpayer Experience Vignettes are one-page graphics portraying the IRS model of the future experiences for different types of taxpayers (I have attached them). What do you think this proposed scenario will mean for you and your taxpayers?
    • What is your understanding of the proposal? Based on the proposal, how would you interact with the IRS in the future?  Would that be the case for all issues or needs?  What other options would be available?
    • Do you see the services you/your clients need reflected in the materials the IRS has published about the evolving future state vision?  If not, what else would you like to see explained?
