Update: H.R. 5371 reauthorized CRP through September 2026.
As of October 1, 2025, no new Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) contracts can be approved unless Congress passes new legislation to reauthorize the program.
This lack of authority is not related to the government shutdown. The American Relief Act of 2025 provided only a one-year extension of the CRP program. The expiration of the extension was September 30, 2025. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act did not re-authorize administration of the CRP program.

On January 29, 2025, FSA issued Notice CRP-1068 to its staff, explaining what this means. As of October 1, 2025:
- CRP-1 contracts approved by COB on September 30, 2025, will continue to receive annual rental, cost-share, signup incentive, and practice incentive payments, as applicable.
- FSA may not process or approve any new CRP offers or offers for re-enrollment (for any signup types).
- FSA may not initiate or approve any new Transition Incentive Program (TIP) enrollments.
- FSA may not approve a CRP contract revision or correction that will result in an increase in CRP-1 acreage.
- FSA may not approve any new Forest Management Incentive (FMI) agreements.
- Continuous CRP Signup offers accepted between May 12, 2025, and July 18, 2025, were processed and approved by September 30, 2025.
- Continuous CRP offers submitted after July 18, 2025, were not accepted for enrollment in the signup. These offers may be resubmitted if authority to administer CRP is re-established.
We will keep you updated.
