Two people have been indicted by the federal prosecutors in Indiana for allegedly defrauding people by supposedly providing "government certified top-quality biodiesel." The pair, Joseph Furando and Katirina Tracy, sold through their associated companies over 35 million gallons of mislabeled "alternative fuels" as "premium biodiesel to service stations and truck stops. The indictment claims that the scam cost consumers over $100 million. News reports indicate that the pair have been released on bail with one of them facing an additional charge stemming from making false statements to the FBI in 2012. The U.S. Attorney's office that has secured the indictment in federal court in Indianapolis called the indictment "the largest tax and securities fraud in Indiana history."
